April 2023 Wyrd Wanderings

Once a month we gather, to sing with the ancestors and deepen our connection with the Runes and the Well of Wyrd. This month we pulled the runes Os - Loki’s rune, Ac - the rune of the blasted Oak, and Raidho - the Wagon. Together they remind us that what feels like steps back are often the exact thing we need to be able to move forward.

Funny enough, the day before hand, I had my own blasted oak that happened in my own back yard. Lightening struck a tree in my back yard snapping a tree in half and knocking down another tree in the process. The most incredible part of it was that there was zero damage other than a part of a fence and the powerlines that came down with the trees. It could have been so much worse. The tree that got snapped in half from the lightening was only a few feet away from the building next to mine. No fires, no electric damage, these two huge trees didn’t even hit any of the cars or go into the road. They fell neatly right onto the sidewalk.

The lessons of the blasted oak, the oak tree that explodes from being hit from lightening, is a reminder of our resilience and our strength. That even when all seems lost and falling apart, that it is a necessary force of nature. The tree that got hit in my back yard reminded me of just how divinely protected I am. How my gods are VERY real and how closely they protect and watch over me. When this rune got pulled at Wyrd Wandering the following day I just had to laugh because of course that one would come up, hours before the very same thing happened in my own back yard. And pulling Loki’s rune with it only made me laugh more. Not just because he is the god of laughter, but how his involvement confirms all of the messages and truths I got from my gods, guides and ancestors from the experience. Raidho’s addition was also a big confirmation as well, that everything is going exactly as it needs to. My gods are less than subtle with me.

So for this month’s bindrune, I wanted to convey that same message of alignment even in moments of what feels like chaos. Despite being without power and internet for a few days, everything felt so perfectly in alignment. Next week’s eclipse has a lot more promises of more chaos and extreme emotions and situations, but this bindrune is here to help us to say in alignment so we can see the bigger picture behind the distress.

Artistically, I am not a huge fan of how it came out, but this is how it wanted to come out. It also speaks to me of Odin’s rune Othala cut in half by Loki’s rune Os. It’s why I decided to add just one dot to the binding to represent Odin’s one eye.

You are welcome to use this bindrune for Personal Spiritual Purposes only. Remember that change is good, my friends!
